Thank you to each and every one of you for your continued dedication and success as a LifeLock Affiliate. As of March 2008, LifeLock has over 700,000 subscribers, a number that could not have been achieved without the help of the LifeLock Affiliates. LifeLock is dedicated to enabling you, the Affiliate, and plans on launching additional tools and educational communications in order for all Affiliates to remain successful.

With that said, please review the updates regarding the LifeLock Affiliate Program below.

Domains and URLs Changes

Starting immediately, Affiliates can no longer own domains/URLs with the terms LifeLock, Life (space) Lock, 877-LifeLock, Todd Davis, 457 55 5462, LifeLock.com, WalletLock, and/or Lifeloc. In order to protect the brand, LifeLock must be the owner of record for any URL/Domain that include these listed terms.

However, while LifeLock will ultimately own these domains Affiliates will be given the opportunity to continue to operate these domains as long as they are in compliance with LifeLock's landing page/site standards, detailed later herein.

Owners of domains containing LifeLock’s Trademarked terms will have 30 days from now to work out domain name transfers referenced here. For any domains purchased before March, 2008 LifeLock will pay domain name owners $100 per domain name to cover time and fees. Domains purchased after this date are not eligible for reimbursement and may be subject to forfeiture to Lifelock.

Domain Transfer Instructions

All domain name transfers shall be coordinated through Lifelock's legal counsel. Please contact Cheri Michel, paralegal with Hahn, Loeser + Parks LLP by e-mail at cmichel@hahnlaw.com.

In general, the process proceeds as follows:

  2. The Affiliate will receive an e-mail from its Registrar at the e-mail address listed with the Registrar to confirm Affiliate's intention to transfer the domain name.
  3. The Affiliate must confirm the intention to transfer the domain via e-mail by the method the Registrar employs.
  4. The Affiliate may also be required to sign further documentation from the Registrar to transfer the domain to LifeLock, Inc.
  5. The Affiliate must notify Lifelock's counsel that these steps have been completed.
  6. The Affiliate will cooperate with Lifelock’s counsel to comply with any other steps or requirements to transfer the domain name.

Landing Pages Changes

We are defining Landing Pages as a web posting, blog entry or dedicated page or site.

All Affiliate landing pages must be approved by LifeLock. To obtain a Lifelock review, Lifelock is requesting that Affiliates submit a review request within the next two (2) weeks to affiliates@LifeLock.com containing the exact subject line – "REVIEW - Affiliate Landing Page." LifeLock's reply with approval and/or requested changes for the Affiliate landing pages will be returned to the Affiliate within 15 business days of the request. Changes to the landing page must be made within 7 business days thereafter.

We want to help you understand what will and will not be accepted for a landing page. The following guidelines should be followed:

  1. Landing pages must not attempt to represent themselves as LifeLock, Inc., the company (that's us). It is not acceptable for a landing page to contain LifeLock images or logos, to have site similarities (color schemes, style sheets, etc.) to the Lifelock.com site or anything that could make the public think that the landing page belongs to LifeLock, Inc. or Lifelock.com. Permission to use certain pre-approved LifeLock logos will be given after site approval.
  2. Each landing page must prominently state that it is an affiliate of LifeLock, Inc. and that it does not belong to LifeLock , Inc. itself. The exact following text must be used: This site is run by XXXX, a contracted Affiliate of LifeLock, and is not owned nor operated by LifeLock, Inc. This text must appear in a minimum of an 8 point font above the fold for pages optimized to 1024x768 and higher. Blog postings (but not entire Affiliate blog sites) are exempt from this requirement, however all copy must be approved by LifeLock.
  3. Landing pages must represent accurate, authorized discounts and/or LifeLock service offerings. Text links, advertising or traffic redirects to LifeLock cannot represent that they are providing a 17% discount or higher. In addition, The LifeLock $1 million total service guarantee should be represented using ONLY this language – "$1 million total service guarantee"

In developing acceptable landing page copy, we suggest that you refer to LifeLock.com for text already in use to sell the LifeLock product.

Keywords

Affiliates are no longer permitted to bid on LifeLock trademarked terms including LifeLock, Life (space) Lock, 877-LifeLock, Todd Davis, 457 55 5462, LifeLock.com, Lifeloc and/or WalletLock. This includes all search engines including but not limited to Google, Yahoo and MSN.

In addition, for the fore mentioned terms, LifeLock will not allow the use of trademarked terms in anchor, headline and display/description text displayed in the search results for both Affiliates and LifeLock competitors when it comes to trademarked key words.

In regards to non-trademarked terms, LifeLock encourages Affiliates to bid freely. However, all anchor, headline and display/description text must be approved by LifeLock.com. LifeLock will not allow the term "official site" or the representation of discounts of 17% and higher.

Email Marketing

All Affiliate email marketing for LifeLock MUST be CAN SPAM ACT compliant. All Affiliates must abide by the following requirements:

  • No false or misleading header information. - The email should appear to come from the exact sender/ Affiliate. This means that the email cannot appear to come directly or indirectly from LifeLock, Inc.
  • No deceptive subject lines. The subject line cannot mislead the recipient about the contents or subject matter of the message. The subject line should only represent LifeLock products and services in the truest form.
  • You must give recipients an opt-out method. You must provide a return email address or another Internet-based response mechanism that allows a recipient to ask you not to send future email messages to that email address, and you must honor the requests. LifeLock reserves the right to compile these opt-out requests in order to populate an opt-out exclusion database.
  • Suppression List. Affiliates must scrub their lists against LifeLock's suppression list manager. Furthermore, Affiliates must submit additional opt-out requests to LifeLock's suppression list manager. For information, please log into the Affiliate Toolbox at www.LifeLockAffiliates.com.
  • Your email marketing must be identified as an "advertisement" and must clearly provide the sending affiliate's valid physical postal address.

In order to enable Affiliates to meet these guidelines, LifeLock has created suggested html email templates available in the LifeLock Affiliate toolbox. If Affiliates would like to create their own LifeLock html emails, they must submit the email for approval to affiliates@LifeLock.com with the exact subject line "REVIEW - Affiliate HTML Email Review." In a manner similar to the Landing Page review detailed above.
